I have been a fan of Elaine Aldrete and Teaching Life Choices for the last decade. Her outreach to children and schools on topics of obesity and diabetes is instructive and compassionate. Her books “Does Diabetes Mean You Die?” and “G-R-E-E-N-E” work to dispel myths and fears surrounding a diabetes diagnosis and promote the fact that it is not a death sentence. TLC has also established a “Book Fund” for local high school students and makes scholarships available to them.
