Nonprofit Overview

Mission: The mission of Teach a Man to Wrench is to provide individuals with the life skills necessary to successfully re-enter society after incarceration. One of the leading factors contributing to the failure of reintegration is a lack of skills and employment. Teach a Man to Wrench will provide on-the-job training with a fair wage, structure, and accountability for previously incarcerated individuals. Participants will earn hours toward Automotive Service Excellence Certification (ASEC). Our program increases the likelihood of successful reintegration and further addresses the impact of recidivism on an overburdened justice system.

One of the most the important factors contributing to recidivism among people who have been incarcerated is the inability to find work.
Teach a Man to Wrench is filling a vital need by providing people with technical skills that will help them enter the workforce and make a decent living. On the job training not only allows individuals to learn life sustaining skills, it also provides a sense of purpose and mentoring of good work ethic and accountability. This structure is needed as individuals face the daunting task of re-entering society. Teach a Man to Wrench is addressing the probelm of over crowded, over burdened, and increasingly expensive criminal justice system while, simutaneously and perhaps more importantly, empowering individuals by giving them a better chance for a healthier, happier, and more productive life.

Mark fixed my ride up with the help of his reforming friends and it rides better than ever. The AC on my GMC truck was out and they got it going again the same day. What a great way to help young men get back on the right track.
