Mission: The Tax Foundation conducts programs and research to educate taxpayers, legislators, journalists, tax professionals and public policy analysts about the nation's finances and the tax burden borne by corporate and individual taxpayers. Our principled, but unbiased, research is an effective tool in guiding lawmakers toward enacting better tax policy. We are well respected by corporations and legislators as a leading voice for sound tax policy, and are well known by the general public for our annual calculation and announcement of Tax Freedom Day, which is the date that taxpayers stop paying their tax bill and begin working for their families.
