Mr. B is a client of our Homeless Services Program. Mr. B needed his birth certificate in order to obtain a state ID. Since Mr. B was born in New York state, it was difficult getting to the right vital statistics department to obtain his birth certificate. After weeks of going back and forth with the state of New York and New York City, we were able to contact the city where Mr. B was born. We sent in the required documents including a copy of the homeless ID that we obtained via our partnership with the Harris County Sheriff's Department's Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) and the required fee. A week after submitting the application and documents, Mr. B had his birth certificate, and he can now continue the process to replace his lost state ID. Mr. B is committed to working the program step by step, day by day.
