I attended a Take Back The Night Event at my college and felt completely empowered and supported by the number of men and women who were there to stand with all the survivors. The event was so powerful because we could share our stories, see the support of our community agencies and know that we weren't alone. We had a closing candlelight vigil that was truly a beacon of light for our strength!

I had the opportunity to get involved with TBTN through the University of Michigan's WILL program during my attendance there. This was probably my greatest experience for growth and learning during my years of higher learning. In an era when rape culture is prevalent, convicted assailants get off with a slap on the wrist, and Brock Turner is going to make a profit from his crime off of doing a tour to talk about promiscuity and alcohol consumption, which is basically victim blaming, I cannot think of a more important social issue to bring to the forefront. I highly endorse this organization, as it gives a voice to survivors of sexual violence, and reminds us of how important this issue is.
