Mission: The tahoe prosperity center (tpc) is an innovative nonprofit collaborative created to champion the prosperity initiatives identified in the 2010 lake tahoe basin prosperity plan. The tpc is the catalyst for regional economic vitality. No other group is working in this collaborative space that bridges a fragmented governing system towards long-term economic, social, and environmental health of the entire basin.
Programs: Connected tahoe - connected tahoe is designed to provide high speed broadband and cell phone coverage to underserved and un-served areas of the lake tahoe basin. - three large communication towers are in permitting at the us forest service. - a consensus-based dig once policy was created for adoption by local jurisdictions. - a grant to the federal economic development administration for broadband implementation was submitted.
workforce tahoe - this project is forging pathways for economic diversification, a talented local workforce and growth of higher wage jobs and businesses. - a partnership with lake tahoe community college and the advance program has been developed to train workers for higher wage jobs.
measuring for prosperity - this is an updated "state of the lake" report for economic and community demographic data. - twenty indicators were updated in the 2017 version of the report.
alerttahoe - the alerttahoe project is a public-private partnership with the university of nevada, reno. This is a system of networked cameras with views of the forest and ridgetops designed to protect from catastrophic wildfire. - more than fifty fires have been stopped before they reached 1 acre in size since the project began.
