Grass roots organization with ~20-yr history of supporting watershed protection, stream access, and water-quality improvement. Efforts by Schuylkill and Lebanon Counties to clean up pollution from abandoned mines were supported and promoted by SWA through educational field trips and community meetings. Recent acquisition by SWA of 30+ acre private canoe rental and camping facility along Swatara Creek, now called Swatara Watershed Park, demonstrates commitment for public use of the water by future generations. Annual Swatara Sojourn showcases the free flowing stream, Swatara State Park, Swatara Watershed Park, and other features to all ages and interests.

This all volunteer organization has been guardians of the Swatara Creek for decades. They clean-up the Swatara, created a Water Trail, organize Sojourns, educate the public on the need for water conservation, interview and document the history of the Swatara, helped farmers install Best Management Practices, adopted the Bordner Cabin, acquired Swatara Watershed Park for public boating and fishing access to the Swatara....
