Mission: Sustainable south bronx works to address economic and environmental issues in the south bronx - and throughout new york city - through a combination of green job training, community greening programs, and social enterprise.
Programs: Ssbx offers 2 job training programs for the green construction and building services sectors. Ssbx's signature classroom-based program, also called ssbx, offers 12 weeks of comprehensive training, up to 8 industry-recognized credentials, and hands-on training. Additional support services include mental health screenings and referrals, financial literacy training, and resume-building and interview skills. Ssbx also offers nyc coolroofs, a paid training opportunity for new yorkers to coat rooftops to improve building energy efficiency and develop job skills. Across both programs, ssbx cultivates relationships with a wide range of employers, including private contractors, landscaping companies and nonprofit organizations, providing graduates with opportunities for employment and career advancement.
ssbx contributes the wider sustainability of new york city through our social enterprise, which provides graduates with paid transitional employment opportunities to complete green infrastructure and horticulture projects citywide.
