Mission: P. O. R. A is a quasi-municipal organization which exists to serve the 30,000 residents of sun city west, arizona and to encourage public service beneficial to the community, promote the health and well being of its residents, and to promote the development of sun city west.
Programs: Consumer services - pora maintains a list of over 600 vendors whose references have been checked and who agree to provide reliable, qualified services to the residents. Provide a consumer service hotline for members to obtain vendor names.
deed restrictions - develop and enforce deed restrictions for sun city west. Assist enforcement of cc&r's for the community and resolve approximately 500 deed restrictions per year.
public relations - most new visitors to sun city west first encounter the not-for-profit sun city west visitors center. It is operated by over 200 volunteers who dispense information about the community, show films, and conduct tours ofthe recreation centers and neighborhoods. They also operate as an information center for the arizona office of tourism.
directory - in november each year, every household and business in sun city west receives an updated scw telephone directory sponsored by pora. In addition to sun city west, sun city, and sun city grand residential and business addresses and phone numbers, the directory also contains listings for many of our surrounding areas. Adult learning - provide classes for members of the community.
