Mission: To facilitate an introduction to the lifetime sport of target shooting to school-aged youth.
Programs: Sar spent significant time in 2017 building opportunities for future growth and expansion. Examples include the establishment of a sar financial endowment, a basic air riflery instructor (bari) management website and reporting instructor portal, 2017 edition of the bari guide, work towards the first edition bari trainer guide, two bari trainings including over 20 new instructors, a promotional and educational sar video, and preparation towards a community educational component of sar. The groundwork in 2017 allows for mission critical work to firearms safety education and additional involvement in shoot sports and should provide steady national growth in 2018 and beyond with expected new sar states to include iowa, texas, and pennsylvania.
sar tournaments facilitate a team and individual competitive format while promoting confidence, self-esteem, responsibility, focus, discipline, and firearms safety. During 2017, sar not only held a missouri state tournament where over 45 students participated, but also invested in opportunities to increase efficiency in tournament coordination and operation. This was mainly accomplished through a new online tournament software. The software allows for coaches to register students' online, track performance, and upload scores through an innovative scorecard system using scantron software. This software component will allow for increased participation in missouri tournaments as well as significantly help with new sar state onboarding.
