Mission: Seedco works with local partners to create economic opportunity for disadvantaged job seekers, workers, and neighborhood entrepreneurs.
Programs: Workforce development - seedco provides career counseling and job-readiness training and job placement services to disadvantaged individuals. Seedco's workforce development programs provide a broad range of job seekers and workers with paths to success that begin with job placement and move on to job retention and career advancement. We tailor these services so they meet the needs of hard-to-serve populations such as: long-term public assistance recipients, noncustodial parents, people with low levels of literacy, and those with other barriers to employment. In addition, seedco designs and operates its workforce development programs so that they are effective for both job seekers and employers. We do this by using all available resources, including those of our community-based and government partners. It is central to our strategy to use a demand-driven approach that targets specific growth industries and ensures that workers have the necessary skills to meet the needs of employers.
work and family supports - even when employed, many workers earn wages that are too low to support themselves and their families. Seedco's earnbenefits program screens low-income households to ascertain eligibility for public and private income support. This helps households gain access to much-need benefits. Seedco uses technology and case management services to connect workers and their families to the full range of benefits: affordable health insurance, the supplemental nutrition assistance program (snap, formerly food stamps), and free tax return preparation. These benefits can help people in need attain long-term employment and financial stability.
small business services - seedco maintains strong capacity to provide technical assistance to small businesses and non-profits, and continues to seek funders to support this work as well as fee-for-service opportunities.
