Causes: Disaster Aid, Disaster Preparedness & Relief Services
Mission: STRONGER THAN (Maria) is a Veteran founded Non-Profit 501 (c) (3) Public Charity that aims to rebuild destroyed homes with solar power and water filtration systems, thus providing citizens with the basic necessities needed immediately after a storm or any other natural or man-made disaster hits. Necessities that as seen during Hurricane Maria and recent earthquakes, have taken days, if not weeks to be available to citizens in remote areas of the island; or citizens in poor health who cannot make the trip to our volunteer centers for assistance. Our name says it all, and our goal, not just in Puerto Rico, but in other areas where disaster hits is to equip people with the tools to be STRONGER THAN. The rebuilding process is long and costly and no institution by itself can meet all the demands to rebuild destroyed homes. We are establishing a Disaster Relief Site along with our partners to continue the services needed by disaster survivors and be prepared for any contingencies that can arrive at any future time. We lost our home, everything and applied to FEMA, several visits, but, still we didn't qualified because we couldn't produce a title (it was lost during the storm). We reapply, disqualify again. Our desperation drove us to almost suicidal thoughts, however, a visit to Stronger Than Maria was enough to begin reconstruction of the home. No only we got a new home, they also provided beds and appliances. Thy were Angels sent by God.
