In October of 2015, I took my first trip to Costa Rica. I was traveling with friends from my service organization Alpha Phi Omega. We worked with Strong Missions clearing property for them to build a community center on. I fell madly in love with the people, the culture, the language and the beauty of the country.
One year later, I was blessed to have another opportunity to return to work with Strong Missions. It was amazing to return and to help build on the land we cleared last year for a new community center. It was great to see old friends and meet new ones. This trip was completely different than the last and that is what made this experience so special. I felt instantly connected with the community members because the intimacy of the dinners.
In 2015 we walked through Los Guido and became educated on the problems happening within the city. What made this year a more powerful experience was having actually interacted with the people and the children. I grew so much as a person through my time there and meeting these amazing children.
All of these life-changing experiences are all thanks to Strong Missions. I really believe in the work Strong Missions does with helping their community reach its full potential. I can't put into words how meaningful this place is to me. I love the way I think when I am there, I self-reflect constantly and sit back to enjoy mother natures beauty.
