Mission: The Stow Community Chest, founded in 1983, grew out of the need to support health and human service agencies when the town began to reduce funding several years ago. Using the United Way model, the Stow Community Chest, a tax-exempt charitable organization managed by an all volunteer board was established. The job of the Board is to raise funds and to review the funding requests of groups seeking support. The funds are raised with an annual town-wide solicitation in the fall. The solicitation is targeted toward individuals as well as local businesses.
