Mission: To help end the sexual abuse of children by mobilizing adults, families, and communities to take actions that protect children, especially before they are ever harmed. Stop it now! Programming demonstrates that: adults will act to prevent abuse, if they have access to accurate information, practical tools, and non-judgemental support; and communities will mobilize around prevention initiatives that address the complexities of abuse closer to home. Remains the only national organization focused exclusively on helping adults and communities protect children from sexual abuse pefore they are ever harmed- and on getting appropriate help for everyone involved.
Programs: Prevention education develops, assesses and distributes educational materials through the website (www. Stopitnow. Org), publications, trainings, and events. These help adults and professionals recognize harmful behavior and how to take action including where to get information and resources for action. Help servicesprovides direct help to individuals with questions or concerns about child sexual abuse; online via email and our online help center (www. Gethelp. Stopitnow. Org) and by phone through our helpline (1. 888. Prevent). The professionally-staffed, specialized national helpline provides confidential support, intervention strategies, and referrals in response to their questions and concerns about preventing child sexual abuse.
now! Collaborates with organizations and communities to customize and deliver our circles of safety curriculum for the purpose of creating environments where children can be free from sexual harm. The goal is to imbed effective prevention policies, practices, and programming in organizations serving children and youth. The helpline service provides training to build capacity in existing helplines to prevent child sexual abuse through increased knowledge and ability to respond to inquiries about child sexual abuse and engage adults around its prevention. Now! Provides training and advising services to organizations, coalitions, and community-based programs on strategies, policies and practices for preventing child sexual abuse. As part of strategic partnerships, the organization consults long term with groups that are adapting key elements of our adult-responsibility, community-based program model.
