We have had llamas and alpacas from Stillpoint since 2005. Chela maintains responsibility for their care, immunizations and is great at answering any questions. Last year Stillpoint boarded them
Temporarily during a cougar issue. They deserve our support!
We were in need of protection for our goats from coyotes mostly! And it was brought to my attention that Llamas were great gaurd animals! Then i discovered Chela and Stillpoint Santuary and the work they do and reached out to see if i could adopt a couple llamas. Within a short time, Elijah and Forrest were part of our family. We had them for about ten years and they were the best companions to our four goats and us. During this time, Chela would come out every year to vaccinate and trim their hooves and sheer them when needed. We loved them!!! However, when we sold our home and moved to a place where we could not have animals Chela happily helped me find them a loving home and helped with the transfer of the animals. She is the best!!! It was heartbreaking to have to give up my furry friends, Elijah actually laid his head on my shoulders and did his humming...I will always remember them!
STILLPOINTE LLAMA SANCTUARY has been so helpful to me. For the last 15 years or more they have helped me with my llamas. The first time was helping me rescue 12 llamas that needed a home. They helped me move the 12 llamas to my farm. During the next few years, they help me find homes for some of them. They taught me how to care for my llamas. They also have checked on my llamas over the years. They are very thoughtful and caring.

Stillpointe goes above and beyond to help llamas in need. I've taken a class from Chela and it's helped me with our alpaca rescue efforts. Highly recommend!
They do wonderful work and are so fully committed to what they do! They are so willing to show interested volunteers around and it is easy to get swept up in the enthusiasm of what they are setting out to accomplish. Wonderful organization!
I had the privilege of visiting this unique and wonderful rescue in September, 2021. I am very involved in animal rescue, and was so pleasantly surprised at the warm reception that I received!
They not only gave me (and a friend) a tour of the property / premises, but they also provided a lot of information on the importance special needs of llamas and alpacas, what proper care encompasses, and the various reasons why these beautiful and intelligent animals are brought to their sanctuary! I learned so much about them, and departed with a much deeper respect for llamas and alpacas!
The managers not only understand llamas and alpacas, but it was very evident that they formed strong bonds with each animal, prioritizing their well-being as a foundational component of their overall care!
Thank you, Stillpointe Llama Sanctuary, for your unique and invaluable efforts!
Chela and Mark are welcome fixtures in the llama community. I run an alpaca rescue and they have always been there for us at a moments notice. Chela always has the best interest of the animals as her focus. We are blessed to know them.

I have written about Chela and Mark and all her volunteers before. There is so much to tell but I will go with just the most recent event I helped with. Wasn't but a month or two ago, a very long time llama owning family had major life changes requiring they no longer operate their farm. It wasn't long before the entire team at StillPointe stepped up and helped resolve one of the biggest emotional battles this family faced...they accepted all three remaining females on the farm! Doesn't sound like much, but imagine if you will being confronted with major health and age issues and after 40 years of living a farm life with animals you cherished having to give them up as part of the change. Knowing they had found a forever home softened that blow. My role was pretty simple. Help gather up the llamas and get them into the trailer for transport. Easy stuff.

I have known and worked with the founders of StillPointe Llama Sanctuary for most all of 20 years now in situations ranging from rehabilitating and placing llamas due to neglect and abuse through and including a llama that had encountered a cougar and lost a full third of one thigh muscle. Their commitment, dedication, and skills with llama and alpaca care goes well beyond just the animals. They TEACH, MENTOR, and COACH other llama and alpaca owners who want to do the best they can for the animals they own with no expectations. What is even equally important is the work they have done with 4h kids in their county AND the education they provide to the volunteers who work equally diligently in support of the mission. The founders [Chela and Mark] have forgotten more than I could ever hope to know about one of the most regal and majestic animals there is.
Chela and Stillpointe are always willing to step up and help animals in need. When we had to move to another state and could not take our elderly llama, Stillpointe didn't hesitate to take her in and give her a wonderful place to spend her last months. It made leaving her easier, knowing she would be loved and well cared for.
I own a small llama farm near Chela and she is always there when I have questions or need help. I adopted my llamas from her and she came out to help us shear and maintain them so we could learn how to do it better. I also volunteer at her sanctuary sometimes and the amount of work she does for her animals happiness is just amazing especially at her age. She is amazing with letting 4H kids us her llamas and teaching them all about them. She is a truly magical person with these animals!
I’ve known Chela for over 25 years. She and her husband Mark are the biggest hearted people I have ever known. They both work tirelessly and give 100% of themselves to these beautiful animals.
Chela and Mark put so much love into the animals in their care. They treat each and every one as special as they need. I have seen scared animals relax and have happy lives! They work magic!
Chela and Mark are truly God's angels to animals. They treat each animal with the respect and dignity they deserve despite some of the behaviors some of the animals have displayed with them. The animals that come to them more than likely come from an abusive situation, and they wholeheartedly gain the trust of these animals. The amount of time, energy, and money they spend to ensure animal has the best in life is unparalleled. Chela and Mark work with 4H groups with these animals, and are overall the most loving, caring, and nourishing souls in Seabeck, WA.
StillPointe Llama Sanctuary is a a life changing organization. They educate the public about Llamas and other types of livestock and do their best to rescue every animal that comes their way. In the time that I hve been involved with them( about 7 years) I can only recall a singular instance where they were not able to assist an animal and even though they have never said they would not take an animal in. Every single time they have been asked to help they have come through. The incredibly woman who started the organization has been rescuing upwards of 30 years now and even at 70 years old, she continues to take care of somewhere around 30 to 40 animals not including any poultry they have taken in as well. 70 years old. Just think about that. Both her and her husband have jobs on top of this other full time commitment they have. They are the most compassionate and caring people I have ever met, and those animals could not have gotten more lucky. They love and care so deeply for every animal in their care.
Caring, compassionate, and makes every penny go extra far. Her caring for camelids in need of help has been incredible, and Chela reaches out to help owners keep their animals, with education and support. Amazing organization!
For as long as I've been involved with camelid rescue, I've been aware of, and later in closer contact with, Stillpointe Llama Sanctuary. Chela has one of the best organized, caring, capable, legit non-profit rescue orgs in the entire panoply of animal rescues! NEVER have I encountered any questionable practices or events; NEVER has she not stepped up to do far beyond the minimal necessary acts to save these incredible animals; NEVER have I doubted that when I contact her for help, Chela and her organization would do whatever possible to assist. Animal rescues are in the news far too often for their unspeakable acts; let's celebrate one of the best who should be in frequent coverage for their success, their commitment and their credible, ethical, active support of animal lives.
Incredible dedication to every animal that comes on contact with this amazing Non- Profit. I have do much admiration for all the work that has gone into making this one of the best rescues I've had the pleasure of getting to know.
