Mission: The organizational mission is to establish and maintain successful and sustainable high-performing learning communities that embody the principles, institutional knowledge and expertise of starr commonwealth and starr commonwealth's "circle of courage schools". The unique blend of behavior development and treatment philosophy and its educational curriculum will nurture and develop the whole child including building independence, mastery, belonging and generosity. Our students will be resilient - able to draw upon knowledge, experience and inner strengths to navigate life's challenges, capitalize on opportunities and become a positive, productive and successful member of society.
Programs: To develop and maintain the highest performing public schools in the country. We achieve this purpose by: developing a world-class, evidence-based curriculum based on research, best practices, innovation and proven results; leveraging starr commonwealth's 100 years of institutional knowledge and expertise serving children and families; creating and maintaining community connections that will support and enhance our capacity to grow and maintain our high performing learning communities; opening new charter schools and/or transforming existing underperforming schools into starr charter schools (learning communities); providing educational consulting services to existing schools; creating leadership training programs to develop future teachers and leaders and parent training programs to help parents improve and expand educational opportunities and experiences for students and provide high quality and reliable day-to-day operational management and expertise for starr detroit academy.
