Mission: Ownership of a horse carries with it a great responsibility for these animals cannot in a domesticated setting become self-sufficient. Horses, with good and consistent daily care and veterinary assistance, can live as long as thirty to forty years. Many horse owners become incapable of maintaining a good level of care for various reasons or go into horse ownership not knowing anything about how to care for a horse or the expense it takes to care for a horse and either neglect their horses or dispose of them. Another Problem we see are horse owners who buy a horse for its color or age but do not ride or play with the horse first, then bring the horse home to find the horse has a lack of training or a level of un-confidence that they do not know how to handle, they then get frustrated and upset and fell the need to get ride of that horse. Often these horses would make fine companions for someone willing to take over the responsibility of caring for them or have the knowledge to better train them and build their confidence Levels. Too many horses are currently being sold to slaughter or brutally neglected because the owners do not have, or do not feel they have, any options. Star Equine Rescue is here to help them, so they have a option to give their equine a happy and healthy life and new beginning. We offer education programs to help educate horse owners with respect to proper care, management and Natural horsemanship training techniques. Star Equine rescue also give's owners a place to help find placement for their equine if they can no longer keep him or her for any reason. We also rescue horses from being auctioned for slaughter, take in horses that have been sized by the state of Florida, and take custody of horses abandoned or neglected by their owners. *The purpose of Star Canine and Equine Rescue is to provide a program of horse rescue for physically or psychologically abused, neglected, troubled, or abandoned equines and to provide rehabilitation, retraining, and placement.
