Mission: Preserve and protect
Programs: Land management:managed over 1500 acres for native habitat. Cleared several acres of woody growth in order to make more grassland and savanna habitat. This clearing was done manually and by mower. Conducted prescribed burns on approximately 100 acres of grassland and savanna. Collected several pounds of seed in grassland restoration site in tewksbury. Partnered with us fish and wildlife and the wisconsin department of natural resources to expand grassland for pollinators, native plants and birds. Began year one of two year experimental induction of the federally endangered karner blue butterfly.
public relations:conducted about a dozen volunteer workdays. Partnered with osceola high school club and conducted outings. Led site visit for future farmers of america from out of area. Managed hunting and sent out two newsltters to hunting community. Sent out 640 copies of annual newsletter detailing the year's work. A volunteer produced new trail maps. Received $500 grant from natural resources fdn of wi to print trail maps and make available to public. Provide free public access for pedestra
land protection purchased 40 acres to add to tewksbury tract. Board wrote and adopted a land management plan for this new property. Continued negotiations for conservation easement on area property. Kept watch for additional land protection opportunities in target area of southwest polk county, wi
