As an owner/operator of a licensed rescue, I can more than appreciate the efforts of SOS. Last year when I took in an unusual amount of at-risk horses, SOS assisted with the suddenly increased need for hay. I have looked to the owners of SOS for advice in caring for my own horses. Their knowledge is vast and their passion for horses is evident.

SOS Organization is run professionally and by some very dedicated and passionate people. I donate on a regular basis because I believe in what they're doing to help those who can't help themselves.

I have not had the pleasure of visiting the farm since I live in Pennsylvania. However I have known Sue for many years and I know what a caring and hard working individual she is. We both have a deep love for horses and all animals.

I know that Sue and Doris will use my monthly donation to do everything in their power to secure a safe haven for these majestic creatures.

THANK YOU Sue and Doris!

As a longtime donor, I choose to contribute to SOS because I have seen firsthand what they are doing to help save Georgia's horses. Concerned citizens are constantly reporting starvation cases to SOS and they not only investigate, but also determine whether horses need to be rehomed or just need assistance with feed. This is especially important now, with the budgetary cutbacks in state government, which has reduced the investigative and impound efforts of the Georgia Department of Agriculture and local Animal Control, much to the detriment of Georgia's horses.

SOS has been such a God-send to me and the horses that I take in. Most recently, they helped with a gelding of a stallion I bought off Craigslist who was a "trade for a riding lawnmower". This organization has provided support and knowledge to so many people, including me. I have been a donor for almost two years now and I cannot say how honored I am to provide financial support to such an incredible group dedicated to the well-being of horses in need.

SOS is a top notch program for not only providing feed and hay to people who desperately want to keep their equines but also provide education to owners. Lots of horse owners own the equine yes but have no knowledge on how to care for them. When it comes to outright neglect and abuse they will do everything legally possible to get the equines removed and owners prosecuted.
SOS also procures grants for gelding clinics. I can' t say enough good about the organization. Have helped be their eyes in my part of the state.

SOS Horses of GA has assisted the Georgia Humane Society with cruelty and neglect issues regarding equine victims in Georgia to assist with those situations where their expertise and guidance have helped Georgia's equine pets in danger. By assisting Georgia Humane Society with equine cruelty and neglect issues throughout the state of Georgia, SOS Horses allows us to help with more rescue efforts for Georgia's at risk pets in need! SOS Horses organization is a great example of how teamwork pays off to save more lives! Many thanks to the tireless efforts of SOS Horses volunteers!

I have known Sue and Doris for years and they both have a tireless commitment to the welfare of horses as well as other animals. Many horses are alive today due to their tireless efforts. I have been involved with a rescue of an Arabian gelding that was headed for slaughter in PA and with Sue's guidance we had the horse brought to GA and placed in a home. This was a very rewarding experience for all me and my wife. I was so impressed with the devotion of SAS that I now make a months contribution to SOS. I wish there were more people such as Sue and Doris in this world to give care and hope to all the abused horses.

Last year when I was in dire need to re-home as many as my horses as I could, SOS stepped up and took one of my "special " mini's named Penny. Penny was a throw-away that I myself took in and put several years into socializing her; as she was terrified and distrusting of humans. When I lost me farm, I needed a special and caring place for her to go. When I started asking around, I found the Sue Crane of SOS was the perfect place for Penny! Sue and Penny took to each other immediately and I have never regretted letting her go home to SOS with Sue, it was meant to be! I am glad Penny now has a great home with loving and caring people!

Sincerely,
Laura Golden

I first came across this organization through facebook. They were in need of transportation for 3 horses from FL to their place in Cumming, GA. Although I am NOT in the transportation business, my heart went out to them with everything else they do for our beloved horses and animal friends.

I quickly volunteered to help while staying in contact with them. I was given the grand tour of the rescue upon arriving and getting the 3 horses settled in. What I saw amazed me! Everything neat and in it's place, animals well fed and cared for, even a blind horse!

I keep up with SOS frequently and offer to transport for them when I can. I cannot thank these people enough for taking such good care of their rescues! If I lived closer, I would volunteer more often. I have taken in one stallion from them who became gelded shortly afterwards. These are the hardest horses to place.

Hats off to them for rehabilitating these horses and finding them good homes!

I first came across SOS online via FB after coming across some local neglected horses SOS did their best to try an help the owners by every means possible. They purchessed feed an hay locally an me an my mom both picked it up an hauled it weekly up to the folks.
SOS is run by some very caring an understanding folks who do their best to help everyone an every animal that they can. They have helped us with several rescues and are always a pleasure to deal with very kind and professional.

I don't have a personal story, but I have learned that this is an organization people can depend on. They are always responding to posts on Facebook with offers of help. Be it food for needy horses where owners are struggling to feed them or transportation or just good advice they are always stepping up to the plate.

I am another rescue in North Georgia. Last year we faced a hay crunch with large numbers coming in unexpectedly. SOS not only provided us with a load of top quality hay for our rescue, but loaded me up with a load for another rescue I would be passing on my return. There work is invaluable.

This group was truly created as a labor of love. Based on the overwhelming number of unwanted, starving and abused horses, we realized that horse rescue and rehabilitation alone is not enough. Because we are not primarily taking in horses, we are able to direct our resources to needs as they arise. We have helped to re-home hundreds of horses that were in bad situations, and helped them to find loving, forever homes where they will be well cared for.

Our founder and CEO, Doris Buckley, is a super-hero of horse rescue. Doris, along with her Board members and volunteers, not only work to save lives, but to strengthen and enforce the current welfare laws in our state.

I am proud to be a part of this new and exciting archetype of rescue that works cooperatively with other horse rescues to keep horses healthy and out of the slaughter pipeline.
