Mission: The Sprout Fund supports innovative ideas that are catalyzing change in Pittsburgh—making our community a better place to live, work, play, and raise a family. Through its programs and activities, Sprout enriches the Pittsburgh region’s vitality by engaging citizens, amplifying voices, supporting creativity and innovation, and cultivating connected communities.
Results: Here are some of the accomplishments made possible by our donors’ support in 2012: * Our flagship Seed Award program reached two milestones - accepting the 100th round of applications in November and making the 300th funding award in December. * We partnered with The Pittsburgh Foundation and Pop City to launch SiX, a discussion series with community leaders pitching socially innovative projects that can be catalyzed by Sprout support. * Our Spark program assumed leadership of the Kids+Creativity Network, providing new financial resources and strategic stewardship to position Pittsburgh on the leading edge of an international movement to reimagine learning in the 21st century.

Programs: * Seed Awards - Catalytic Funding to projects and programs * Spark & Hive - Provides catalytic support, technical assistance, knowledge sharing, and enhanced communications to the Kids+Creativity Network, * Social Innovation Exchange (SiX) - an event series that brings together innovators from many sectors in Pittsburgh to explore the assets and opportunities that distinguish this city and create projects that will contribute to its continued vitality. * Public Art - improves the image and visual landscape of Pittsburgh and surrounding communities by facilitating the creation of high-quality works of art.
