Mission: It is the mission of the spokane county bar volunteer lawyers program (vlp) to provide select legal services to low-income residents of spokane county who may otherwise be denied adequate representation or access to the civil justice system, and to encourage local attorneys to fulfill their duty to provide pro bono services.
Programs: The primary purpose is to provide free legal services to economically disadvantaged residents. The program also has available various legal seminars and clinics and legal forms as part of the program. There were over 2,500 hours donated by more than 75 attorney's and para professionals, providing services to over 1,500 clients. Law students also contributed over 100 hours with more than 25 volunteers during the year. Pro-bono legal services for the attorney's alone are estimated at a value of over 571,900 in free legal services which are not included in the revenues and expenses of the tax return. The value of para-professionals, law students and others have not been valued.
