I volunteer with an organization whose sole focus is to help people find affordable spay/neuter services for their pets. At a time when veterinary costs have increased dramatically, SNAP is virtually the only agency in San Diego County that provides an affordable spay/neuter option. Without SNAP, thousands of animals would go unaltered every year, and that would be catastrophic for animal welfare. San Diego is so very fortunate to have SNAP.
I was so happy to make an appointment for little Kellycat to be spayed. I knew that the amazing, caring staff would care for her just like I would. And they did!
The snap organization has Always been very professional and reliable in the six years that I have received their services. Their veterinarians are top-of-the-line and the volunteers are incredibly caring and thoughtful.
SNAP does a tremendous job assisting, encouraging and educating people to spay and neuter their pets. Their fundraisers are fun too! Pickleball tournament Saturday Sept 21st will be terrific.
I've had the privilege and honor of volunteering for this AMAZING organization. Their mission is to lower the number of euthanized animals throughout San Diego, CA and beyond. The only way to do so is by altering pets and educating people on why spay/neuter is the best thing for the animal, health wise and the only answer to population control. Many folks cannot afford to pay to spay/neuter their animals, and the consequence can literally be hundreds of thousands of unwanted animals that end up in shelters (likely to be euthanized) or worse, are abandoned to fend for themselves.
SNAP offers low cost spay/neuter services to pet parents (dogs, cats, and even rabbits!) throughout the SD community. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see people who love their animals and want to do the best for them have the opportunity to take advantage of this life saving/changing program.
I have been a monthly donor for several years and always will be. Every little dollar helps keep this invaluable service available to those who need it. Please consider donating to this incredible organization and spreading the word about the value they bring to our community people and pets!
Thank you, SNAP for all you do!
Gratefully,
Marci Rufenacht
Life savers, literally! Spay & neuter surgeries have become out of reach for most due to extremely high vet costs. SNAP has made it affordable and easy for San Diego to saves thousands of lives by spaying & neutering their pets. #dreamteam
I dearly appreciate how each and every person as associated with SNAP cares about the well-being and health of each animal they treat.
I operate a small private rescue, and they have helped alter animals before adoption.
Every time I reached out to ask for an appointment, I met with courteousness and enthusiasm, and everybody at the SNAP site has been warm and welcoming, and takes great care of our animals.
Thank you, SNAP!
Snap is such an amazing, important organization! They save so many animals and make sure overpopulation will be reduced to reduce more suffering. They go beyond to take care and save animals!
SNAP - Spay Neuter Action Project and I have had such an incredible journey together so far!!! I was introduced to this AMAZING organization when I saw an extremely urgent need for colony control in my mom's neighborhood. At the time, TNR(trap, neuter, release) was becoming a "thing" because feral cat breeding was beginning to reach a critical level. I was clueless on where I could take these cats that I decided to try to trap and a quick Google search led me to SNAP's Neuter Scooter North Bus!!
Before I became a proud employee of my place of advocacy, this amazing organization helped me fix and end a colony of 43 cats within 2 years!!
Now to this day, I have been able to fix over 100 cats, both feral and adoptable friendly's thanks to Spay Neuter Action Project!! I want everyone to know that we can ALL trap cats and utilize the amazing Feral cat program that is offered for only $20 a feral!! If I can do it so can you!! Together we can ALL end the critical crisis and epidemic of our cat overpopulation!! Win, win for ALL involved!!
SNAP helped me with my newly arrived kitten siblings. Spayed, neutered and vaccinated. I appreciate their expertise and support as I learned how to be a cat mom. Really friendly staff. Much appreciated
SNAP is the lifesaver for all animals. Everything SNAP does helps every single shelter, rescue group, pet owner, etc. by keeping the pet population down through their consistent spay neuter clinics throughout the county. Without them many, many more pets would be living in shelters and kennels in our already overflowing shelters and rescue groups.
SNAP is the leading group in tackling the over population by reducing unwanted litters.

I knew nothing about SNAP until I randomly met a wonderful employee while doing a photo shoot. I was asked to donate some photography time to do a promo shoot one day and I have never looked back. SNAP is by far, the most wonderful, caring and amazing organization I have ever encountered and I will forever donate my time and energy into promoting and photographing any and all events they invite me too. From the advisory board to the medical staff in the field, each and every person is dedicated to this project of controlling pet population one spay/neuter at a time. The best non-profit organization you could ever put your money towards. Honest, caring, diligent. True to their beliefs.
I would say SNAP is one of the 2 top groups in San Diego, area keeping our pet population from getting out of control. Without SNAP, many more animals would be reproducing and we would be flooded with more unwanted litters of dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. Please spay and neuter your pets, let us all be responsible pet owners & save lives.
Our shelters are in overflow, and you can help by supporting SNAP
I take my dog and cat here for deworming, flea treatment, and vaccinations. The place is always so organized and the employees are so kind and helpful. They treat my animals well and make sure we have everything we need!
We had a great experience , my dog had spay/neuter plus microchip and vaccines the same day with my puppies vaccines together and microchip .
The service was so nice and the price better .
Thank you so much !!!
This is a fabulous group. The care they give the pets is top notch and all of the volunteers and staff are super friendly. I am delighted to be a part of this group. I support them 100% and encourage others to do the same.
This organization speaks to my heart with the aim of preventing unwanted litters and thus preventing suffering. What they do is so important and I'm happy to help support them.
I have volunteered in several different capacities over the years. I feel fortunate to have observed close at hand the dedicated teams that clearly show their passion for saving lives of future unwanted pets. SNAP has had a huge impact in reducing the numbers of animals killed each year in our shelters!
I have volunteered in shelters and have witnessed the senseless killing of beautiful souls, who ended-up in our shelters largely due to unplanned litters.
SNAP is the only non-profit that devotes all of its resources to reducing the pet over population, and the tragedy of senseless deaths of unwanted pets!

SNAP is the most welcoming and inclusive organization allowing people of all walks of life to participate. SNAP’S efforts at fundraising are monumental allowing their efforts to be widespread and shared by various communities. Without SNAP San Diego would be a much sadder community
SNAP was a lifesaver when we befriended 6 little kittens who were born on the premises of a friend's worksite. We "fostered" them unofficially until they were old enough to be adopted. The friend was going to just give them away at a swap meet as he'd had difficulty placing a previous litter. Through SNAP we got all of them "fixed," immunized, and chipped which made them more attractive to a well-established facility to take them in and put them up for adoption. We kept 3, but the other 3 found homes elsewhere within a week and all ended well. Thanks SNAP!
SNAP is a wonderful organization that puts its emphasis on Spay and Neuter efforts. This has saved countless animal lives in the San Diego area. They reach out to communities through their vans and share their resources directly to the communities. SNAP is a great model for other places that want to reduce pet overpopulation. .
I have not had an animal spayed or neutered by SNAP but have seen the "Neuter Scooter"at work in lower income parts of East County and at Military family events and they always were "full up" with appointments for lower and moderate income pet owners.
I donate to several cat rescues and one has said because of the sheer no of cats needing homes"We cant rescue our way out of this" so spay/neuter is essential.
SNAP also spays and neuters dogs and I am happy about this as the shelters always seems to have too many dogs needing homes so helping to reduce the no of unintended litters is essential.
I've been a supporter of SNAP for many years. I firmly believe that spaying and neutering services are the vital piece to solving pet overpopulation and reducing/eliminating unnecessary euthanasia of pets. Their efforts to perform services and educate the community will effect many generations to come.
I was so grateful to find this place as it gave us opportunity to help with vaccine and chip. Even help us schedule spayed for our cat at the breast convenience I’m so happy for this organization.
I recently took my dog to SNAP and was nervous picking her up since this was my first spay/neuter. However, I was thoroughly informed on how to properly take care of my dog once I got home, and what the healing process would be like. I felt confident leaving with my pet knowing she had been cared for during surgery and also knowing how to care for her at home. She has now fully recovered and we couldn’t be happier. Thank you SNAP.
As a military veteran they offered a free neuter service for our pet. Plus our area had donor support which helped others revive their services. They are an amazing and provide so much support throughout San Diego county. We had an absolute great experience! Highly recommend. Please support their cause.
This group works tirelessly to spread the word about the problem of pet overpopulation while performing low and no cost spay and neuter surgeries almost every day of the year to help combat the problem.
In addition, they provide low and no cost vaccines and microchipping for pet owners to keep their beloved pets safe and healthy.
Amazing organization! Professional, caring, outstanding staff and volunteers. What a great blessing for our community. I've lost count on how many family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances' dogs/catshave benefited from the services. I can't thank them enough for all they do. Thank you!
I'm still waiting to attend my appointment for my kitties, but I'm happy with the customer service so far! It is great to have such a program available for low income families. This directly helps pets and families, no run around!
This nonprofit is essential for those people who could not otherwise afford to have their dogs and cats spayed or neutered. The best part is that they are mobile so they go to places where it is most needed. All the staff is very caring and helpful. I highly recommend SNAP.
The Spay Neuter Action Project is one of the best nonprofit organizations in all of San Diego. They are one of the very few organizations who are actually preventing the pet overpopulation problem from happening. They are not just putting a Band-Aid on the problem, they are actually stopping the problem. The people who work there work tirelessly to end the pet-overpopulation problem plaguing the country. The staff and volunteers are the most caring and committed group of people I have come across in a long time.
SNAP if a wonderful organization. They go to the root cause of the overpopulation of dogs, cats and bunnies by offering mobile spay and neuter to all areas of San Diego County including the Reservations. People who could not otherwise afford or get to a facility offering spay and neutering services are being able to get their animals fixed. Reducing the amount of homeless/stray animals that enter our shelters. SNAP is the main reason why our shelters see less animals coming through their doors. I am so grateful for the group of people who had this amazing vision. Fixing over 65K animals in just over 20 years! Keep up the great work!
SNAP is such an important non-profit. I have been involved with them for several decades. They offer important services -- promoting and making accessible and affordable low cost spay and neuter services! In addition, they focus on education. The volunteers are professional and enthusiastic and truly care about the animals. We have a non-profit that supports this great work, as well. I have referred many to their programs, that otherwise could not have afforded to spay/neuter their animals -- something that is critical to the well-being of animals in this country. We destroy tens of thousands of dogs & cats every year in the US. Thank you to SNAP for their great work! Elana Cohen Richmond, The Healing Field Foundation
Volunteering at our Neuter Scooter has been one of my most rewarding experiences. We have 2 fully outfitted Mobile Buses where we travel to low income areas and offer low-cost or free sterilization for cats dogs and rabbits. Our 35 available appointments at each clinic are always full with a waiting list. We have made connections with Native American Tribes to offer no-cost clinics on the reservations. The people there are always so appreciative as they have few or no resources for this service for their pets. We also offer classes to grade schools to teach humane animal care for their pets.
I'm so proud to be a link in a chain of wonderful SNAP supporters.
SNAP has been such an incredible resource for getting my cats fixed! They're very educational about the issue of pet overpopulation and take great care of every pet patient. I love SNAP!
I am so grateful for the lifesaving work SNAP does for us in San Diego. They are one of the few low or no-cost spay and neuter clinics around and they make it so convenient by going to the neighborhoods who need them most. With their help, we've been able to get feral cats spayed and neutered which prevents numerous unwanted litters and we've helped military families get their dogs spayed and neutered. Thank you to SNAP!!!
Controlling San Diego County's pet overpopulation problems starts with getting pets spayed and neutered. No local entity is performing this vital service more nor better than SNAP. The time and effort this nonprofit organization dedicates to this mission is beyond exemplary. The board members, volunteers and medical staff of SNAP are exceptionally hard working, persevering despite their main source of funding being cut off for an extended period of time following the takeover of most of our local shelters by the San Diego Humane Society, which no longer provides low-cost spay/neuter to members of the public. Without SNAP, our pet population here would be much farther out of control. As a long-time volunteer dog walker/trainer, I'm tremendously grateful to SNAP for their tireless efforts to reach low-income pet owners and provide this vital veterinary service these owners couldn't afford otherwise. Because SNAP is most deserving of recognition and donations, they get my vote!
SNAP provides a phenomenal service to San Diego County. They are out there doing an amazing amount of Spays and Neuters for dogs and cats. They have filled a huge void created by Covid and I hope they never stop. They are the real deal and are most deserving of recognition.
It’s because of the hard work, dedication and amazing staff and volunteers that SNAP is my #1! When the pandemic hit getting spayed/neuters was next to impossible until SNAP stepped in. Professional, kind, wonderful to work with, 5 stars ⭐️ all the way from myself and all of us at FAS!
Over the last year, we have adopted two Chihuahua mixes to add to our family. Prior to the adoption, we visited one of the adoption clinics and were able to met them. Not only were the dogs well taken care of, they were all friendly and socialized. This was very important to us because we already had two at home. We picked out Lola first, she was friendly, loved to get petted and was very comfortable with us picking her up and playing with us. When we got her home and she met the other dogs, she fit right in right away. After a while, we checked the website again and there was one dog that was still there from our last visit (we almost picked her first). We decided to visit again and with Vienna's wagging tail, good nature, and playfulness we fell in love with her. Just like Lola, she was used to being around other dogs and had no problem joining the family. Because of the way they were taken care of and the attention paid to them, they make sure they would make good addition to any family!
I was struggling between the cost and the availability of almost every clinic during this pandemic, to get my dog Neutered ! I came across The Neuter Scooter SD, and they were so helpful. Willing to answer any question, help however they could. And frankly, they GENUINELY cared about my dogs well being. I am very thankful for this place and staff who work in it!
I had such a great experience at neuter scooter. They tried to squeeze me in without an appointment but it was too busy. And so they gave me $10 off for showing up and they set me up with an appointment. My pup developed a rash after surgery they told me to keep an eye on him and to let them know if it got worse. Brought him home rash was gone next day. They called a week later to check on him which was super sweet. Oh! and they also gave him his rabies shot free of charge. Overall great experience really happy with the service and price.
Thank you for taking care of Itzy. You guys are a wonderful team ( PS. Neutering my cat was the best decision I made for him ) Thank You
We have been using the Snap Project for years. I’m a nonprofit Rescue. Basically a personal Rescue. I live rural and people are dumping animals all the time. People call me and we take in what we can. So Spaying comes right out of my pocket. So I really appreciate any help they and others offer. They are Awesome to work with. Very Friendly. I refer them to everyone. With out them we would really have a over Population of animals. Which we all know is getting crazy . Thank You so much for making this Great Difference for everyone. Bless You.
I went to them 2 times to fix my cats such sweet loving people.....took great care of my fur babies, i got more fur babies so when they get bigger will go to them too....wonderful and caring customer service!!!!!
The people are so kind. Your pet feels like they’re a priority for them. Thank you for the great work!
Husband and I got the cutest and sweetest Honey from SNAP. Because if the love that SNAP foster mom gave Honey, we bought another Mia for one our Granddaughter’s birthday. Due to the success of SNAP’s mobile spay and neuter unit, the adoption fee was SUBSTANTIALLY lower than all the other foster programs. Picture #1Before foster
#2 after adoption and raw dog food.
I cannot emphasize enough how grateful I am with the special people working in the program. They are professional, kind & understanding. They don't drop you after the surgery. They maintain contact and follow up with how your baby is doing, etc. They genuinely love their patients & it shows!!! I highly recommend this non-profit group for as many donations as they can possibly get!! Thank you for the wonderful service you are providing!!!!
Frieda & Baby Zoe
I’ve volunteered for Friends of SNAP events. They help a lot of pets and people in need. Thank you for your hard work.
The love of animals is behind SNAPs goal of wanting to reduce pet overpopulation and decrease the euthanasia rate of unwanted pets. I admire SNAP. I admire the employees and volunteers of SNAP. Education comes directly and through volunteering. SNAP is helping a whole new generation learn about the benefits of spaying and neutering.

What a terrific non profit and wonderful service that they provide for spaying and neutering low income people's pets. Thank you SNAP!
This handsome boy Duke got neutered with love on the Neuter Scooter! We can not thank the staff and SNAP for helping when we needed it!
I love this organization. I took our cat in to get fixed. Everything went smoothly. The staff friendly and caring. They understood they weren't just pets they're part of our family. Can't wait until they come to north county.
SNAP is all about the "solution" to pet overpopulation. Their affordable spay and neuter services prevent the birth of unwanted litters in the most humane and effective way possible. Because of them, there are less dogs, cats, and rabbits suffering in our local shelters and on the streets. Please consider donating to SNAP so they may continue this important work.
Why I love SNAP................
They assist every single rescue/shelter/fosters, etc............thru out the San Diego, CA area by making sure everyone has access to affordable spaying & neutering!!! And they are mobile!
If you can't decide how to help all our homeless animal when you want to donate or volunteer think of SNAP as you are helping all animals in San Diego. A lot of the large known rescue groups (Helen Woodward/Humane Societies/etc. ) have a very healthy bank account & have their own vets on site to take care of spaying & neutering but the all volunteer groups need assistance to rescue more animals out of our shelters & off the streets.
SNAP is and has been there for many, many years helping our animal community.
I was able to get my dog spayed with SNAP, and the whole process was smooth, efficient, but also detailed and informative, and the employees showed genuine concern for my girl. Everyone raves about the price, and yes the price was amazing and unable to be beat by any vet in San Diego county, but the low price didn't mean poor service. The staff was very helpful, clear instructions and attentive at every stage, from scheduling to post operative care.
As someone who does rescue, I know the massive importance of spay/neuter and I love that they approached spay and neuter from an animal welfare mindset, rather than a business for profit. No other vet talks about overpopulation and why spay/neuter is so important, but SNAP keeps the focus on being a responsible owner, so accidental babies aren't born to add to overpopulation. My girl came home from surgery, took a long nap, and got up later in the evening almost like nothing had happened, and by the next day was back to herself with just the tiniest little incision. The only way you would know anything had happened is the cone of shame she is rocking for the next couple days, which was included in the price.
For the price, at private vets you might be able to get an exam and rabies shot (easily $80), but with SNAP for the same amount, you get everything for surgery, go home meds, cone of shame, rabies if needed, and a license if needed- WOW (for $80 for my girl). If I went to a private vet, it would've been more like $500-$800 for the exact same thing, and it would not of helped a non-profit, but a for-profit business, so seems like such a win/win.
They spayed both of my dogs. They are so csring and dedicated. They are providing a wonderful service to our county.
SNAP is an asset to the people and the communities that it serves. It is also one of the smartest non-profits I am aware of as it addresses the problem of unwanted companion animals before they become a challenge that needs to be resolved.
The team at SNAP works tirelessly and efficiently to meet the spay and neuter needs of economically challenged pet owners throughout San Diego county. As a volunteer board member, I am always impressed at the passion and professionalism our team displays when I visit one of our clinics.
Besides providing a service to residents we are also helping cities reduce the financial burden that unwanted pets can present.
SNAP provides an invaluable service to our community by offering low and no-cost spay/neuter programs for pets and families. Compassionate and professional, SNAP's work and educational initiatives, have prevented thousands of unwanted pets from entering the shelter system. It is my hope that, one day, every community has a program as amazing as SNAP.
SNAP is an awesome organization that offers spay and neuter services to low income communities. I highly recommend their services!
I have been involved with SNAP since its inception. I so believe in what we are doing because the alternative is simple to kill more healthy cats and dogs. We have been successful in engaging the entire community in our efforts; the testimonials we receive could make you cry, the clients are so appreciative. Some of them could never afford to have their animal fixed; our low cost fee allows them to do the right thing and to feel good about it.
Spay Neuter Action Project helps all of San Diego County by helping low income pet owners "afford" to spay and neuter their dogs, cats and rabbits. This reduces the number of homeless pets born to fill our shelters.
I trapped a cat in my neighborhood and brought him to Neuter Scooter and then released him back to my neighborhood. After he was neutered, he became a very friendly cat. A neighbor spent some time socializing him. He is now part of their family and lives partially indoors with them. This is not a typical TNR story, but it certainly has a very happy ending! Neuter Scooter staff was super during the whole process and I highly recommend them. And that kitty has a whole new life.
