Causes: Community & Neighborhood Development, Economic Development
Mission: To make Southtown a great place to live, work, and do business through partnerships, economic stimulation, elimination of blight, and stabilization of the community.
Programs: A community-wide project to dispel negative perceptions and encourage community beautification along the Troost Avenue Corridor. We have planted more than 200,000 tulips over the past 4 years on vacant lots, public right-of-ways, and on private properties. The intention is to continue this project with additional plantings each year. We are also working to encourage people to plant additional landscaping to follow after the tulips are gone. Work has begun with area school students working on plantings in their greenhouses.
