I came across Southern Twang almost a year ago now in my search for a rescue to adopt my next horse from. I found several that I liked but the more and more I watched Jamison and followed her through social media the more I knew this was exactly where I wanted to be. Her kindness and love for these animals is very clear in everything she does. She takes the ones people have given up on, starving, abused, unloved, abandoned and she brings them back to life. She takes the hard ones nobody else will take a chance on and does amazing things with them. Her husband and kiddos help too and it's truly a beautiful thing to watch them all work together and love these animals so much!
I'm happy to say that a few months ago we were finally able to adopt not one but two beautiful babies from them. She has been fantastic every single step of the way and I know I can always come back to her with questions and she will be there. If you are looking to adopt a horse I strongly suggest Southern Twang! If you're on the fence don't be. Southern Twang is the right choice if you're looking to adopt or for a place to support with donations. They are very honest and upfront with everything they do and you can see the progress and love poured into these babies.

Southern Twang Second Chance Ranch is amazing. Family run, very knowledgeable, and very kind. Jameson cares more than most. She gives these horses and donkeys the very best chance at life. Her and family love them, care for them, and nurse them back to health. They give everything to the mission to give these precious animals second chance.
I have volunteered for this awesome rescue and they do an awesome job on bringing back the big furbabies to health and love them and show the big furbabies what life is really supposed to be like instead of the old life that they were living.
Great rescue. Shows start to finish progress and receipts for donor dollars. Was thrown under the bus by a scam rescue a while back which caused a decline in their funding, but Jamison kept it going despite those challenges and has happy, healthy horses to show for it.
Donations are always an issue for the small, hands on, legit rescues like Southern Twang. They have already done such amazing things for the horses they have had hands on in saving. I hope they continue to grow and expand because legit rescues are really in need right now!
I first noticed Southern Twang Second Chance Ranch when I was looking for a horse rescue in central Texas that I could support. I looked at many sites and when I read the stories and saw that amazing transition Jamison, the owner, ah had her entire family had on these sweet souls, I was transfixed. They are by far the best rescue around
I came across Southern Twang Second Chance Ranch last year when we realized our daughter would soon be ready for her very own horse. I reached out and now our daughter’s dreams have come true when we adopted this sweet boy from them earlier this month! He is such a blessing to us as STSCR is to so many horses… so very thankful for what they do!!! We will continue to support them as best we can and look forward to adopting another horse to add to our family!!! ❤️

I’ve adopted 3 horses from this rescue. We love them all! Jamison is always willing to answer questions and give advice when I pick her brain about something! She also transported them to my home for me, which was greatly appreciated! The adoption fees were fair and knowing they go to help out the rest of the rescue horses is great!

Jamison and her family are alway outside w the horses and doing or building something to better the rescue! (Wish I had their energy) lol
I love the family environment the rescue horses get to be around I know it helps w their emotional healing to see so much love surrounding them!
They are always finding ways to better the rescue and the horses environment… which is great to see!

Southern Twang Second Chance Ranch is a horse rescue that is very near and dear to my heart. She is relatively new.......started in Nov 2022. The owner is Jamison Parker. Of course she started off small but has grown very fast. Presently 30 rescue horses. This is a family run rescue. Jamison along with her husband and 4 kids all work on the rescue in different aspects. From feeding and watering, to socializing with the horses to get them to learn to trust again, vet and farrier care, bathing, building pens and shelters, the work never stops.
Horses come into the rescue in various ways.....from auctions, owner surrenders, or from police seizures. The horses, generally all, are in extreme body conditions. Jamison has the knowledge to work with these different stages. Be it a stage 1 body condition that needs to be monitored for refeeding syndrome or picked up with the tractor by using a net. She's always there and still is able to juggle 4 kids at the same time! This is a top notch rescue in my book.
Southern Twang Second Chance is a true blessing to every animal they have come across. From helping horses or donkeys make it to a true living home and not a trader to taking in blind, lame or otherwise unwanted horses and showing them the love and attention they'd been longing for far too long. It takes a village to do what the owner and her family do with so little help. They have a hand full of volunteers they can rely on to show up regularly and other than that it's Jamison and her family running the show. If you're looking for a rescue to donate, volunteer or adopt from, they are a wonderful option. You'll never have to question where your money is going. You'll see it front and center on the transformations of the rescues.
Rescue done right, transparent, you never have to question where donations are spent, you can see it, her love and compassion for the horses are remarkable, she is the voice for these horses, she will stand up for them and will get justice for them if possible, she speaks loudly for them, the horse all know love no mater their story or ending!! She is an amazing human that has one goal..to help as many horses as possible!! When adopting from her she tells you all about the horse cause she knows every detail about them before she adopts them out, you have to fit right for the horse before she will let one of her babies go to you, cause it’s about the horse and their happy life first!!
Very transparent rescue that does things the right way. Always puts the horses first. True rescue, rehab, and retrain. Gives an honest evaluation on all they adopt out.
I love following this rescue. Super communicative with their base. Excellent at providing updates on rescues, transparency in fundraising, and current and future goals. The owners of the rescue are hands on and involved. It appears they work tirelessly for the benefit of their rescue animals. My property is not yet ready for me to adopt, but I sincerely hope that I will be able to adopt a donkey (or two) in the near future. Meanwhile, I will continue to support this rescue with monetary donations as I am able!
