Mission: Southern Outback Addiction Recovery was founded in 2001. We,here at S.O.A.R., have found over the years while sponsoring alcoholics and addicts in early recovery using our own funds that the direct encounter of the works of the Higher Power in nature, in the company of people in sustained recovery helps to demonstrate the vital nature of spirituality and fellowship in maintaining sobriety long term. There is a desperate need in our society to address the dismal rate of recovery which currently exists among individuals with the disease of addiction. Through our Outback Program, it is our belief (and experience) that people who have a desire to recover can be assisted in gaining essential spiritual tools and disciplines which can help them to maintain abstinence in the world at large. We further seek to demonstrate that a sober life is a joy filled life. Many people in early recovery believe that "life is over". During their excursion we show that life without drugs and alcohol is eminently more rich and rewarding. Our goal is to assist recovering people in sustaining their recovery and to take that changed life back into their own families and communties, to be a positive and productive member of society once again.
