Mission: To advance the wind industry in ways that result in net economic benefits to industry, utilities, ratepayers, and citizens of the southeast.
Programs: All programming consists of wind energy education and outreach to utilities, communities, as well as state and local decision makers. Sewc conducts individual, group, and conference education opportunities through both direct contact as well as in partnership with other clean energy stakeholders to reach as many relevant people and decision makers as possible. Sewc and our partners worked with thousands of stakeholders over the year. Sewc conducted a deep dive analysis into five states and the factors in those states that may affect the development of wind energy. In 2017 sewc held an educational event and wind farm tour for state lawmakers followed by a similar event for state regulators. Additionally sewc organized one utility advisory group meeting for representatives of utilities across the southeast, started and held a wind working group for sc, two in-person board meetings in raleigh, nc and richmond, va, and one annual meeting in raleigh for a total of seven events.
