Results: Somali Youth Development Foundation is a local non-profit organization, NGO whose mission is to educate and motivate the Somali youth, and to promote activities and programs of the youth as well as the youth to achieve sustainable development
the promotion of education and the relief of poverty by challenging and changing those practices that generate and sustain poverty. Founded in 2007, our vision is a dynamic civil society influencing policies and actions at all level as well as to safe guard the global Somali youth and promote sustainable development, to rid our society of sin and other social ills militating against the will of God and our collective social existence. We work primarily but not exclusively, in Somalia in order to build self-reliance, health and capacity. The Foundation provides a platform for the maximum expression of youthful creativity and the harnessing of the rich potentials of young people for the promotion of positive social change and transformation towards sustainable growth and authentic development. We organize conferences. Trainings workshops for youths on leadership development, good governance dialogue and cooperation, Culture of Peace Education, HIV/AIDS Prevention, Asset-Building, Family Support Programs, ICT development, among others.
The Foundation is administered by an Advisory Board, an chair person, treasurer, general secretary and a wonderful team of selfless and dedicated Volunteers. The Foundation has successfully implemented a number of programs during the last seven years, including the following:
National Somali Youths Conference on Peace building from 28th to 30th April in Bandir Region
National Inter Youths sport tournament from 28th to 30th October, 2006 in Balet-hawo-Gedo-Somalia
Gedo Youths Leadership Training Program from June 2013 to September 2006, with financial support from The Somali local Diasporas.
The National Days of Youth Service and the Global Youth Service Day from 21st to 23rd April, 2006, with financial support from the Banadir-based Somali business men at National Conference on youth Citizenship.
The Foundation has at various times partnered with and is still working very closely with reputable organizations such as health activities, human rights as well as Youth related Project for Hope- of Somali youth, Teachers Without Border the Somali voluntary youth, Youth Service in Somalia, The EDU Network Center for Youth Studies, Search Institute, among others.
