Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Religion, Religious Media & Communications

Mission: SFB was founded as a religious Christian educational organization. Its purpose is to provide educational information covering contemporary social problems--such as drug and alcohol abuse, crime, depression and suicide, the struggles of today's youth, and the breakdown of relationships and families. SFB's primary teaching focus concentrates on how to keep such problems from developing, recognizing when they do arise, and facilitating proper and practical approaches to dealing with them should they ultimately arise. SFB makes available to the public, without charge, information discussing these and other contemporary social issues from respected religious experts, organizations and educators, such as Dr. James Dobson and Focus on the Family, Gregg Laurie, Chuck Smith, local pastors, and others. SFB also plans to offer its distribution channels at no cost to Christian churches and like-minded organizations or individuals, so they can present their life-impacting messages of Grace through Jesus Christ. One of the best ways to provide socially-relevant Christian educational information to a broad cross-section of the public is through the medium of non-commercial radio. Therefore, SFB is working towards meeting its information distribution objectives by developing non-commercial FM radio stations in areas that currently do not have many non-commercial radio station options. In the future, SFB plans to develop other types of information distribution channels as well. Examples of these would be non-profit book distribution and Internet web-based information distribution. These types of information dissemination channels are complementary to, and expand on the role radio can play in presenting information to the public.
