How to tell the reasons I love Soft Landings Parrot Rescue?! I have wanted to have birds for quite some time now. One day, talking with a girlfriend of mine and mentioning this topic, she suggested a rescue option. I loved the idea and finding Soft Landings Parrot Rescue was a ‘God thing’. I have learned so much from Lisa and am so thankful for her and what she does~ her heart for her birds is indescribable! Pyper and Cecyl have settled in perfectly here in their new home, and I cannot imagine our lives without their fun, loving little selves! I HIGHLY recommend Soft Landings Parrot Rescue for anyone looking for their new addition to their family, as well as for all educational purposes for the health and well being of your bird. BIG heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the awesome team at Soft Landings Parrot Rescue!!!!!!!

This parrot rescue is legit and a great source for so much more than just adopting or rescuing pet birds. They help with lost birds in Oklahoma and offer educational articles on parrots and parrot ownership. It is a well-rounded organization with good intentions.

I met the founder of Soft Landings when she brought in a couple of new rescues to the vet clinic I worked at. Soft landings is a wonderful rescue. The feather babies are great! Love!!!!

I love to volunteer here. She has such a great system, prepares fresh food for them daily, their cages are clean, toys galore (many made by volunteers) and the birds are happy. She loves each and every one of them and it’s evident they all adore her too. She’s a wealth of information. I know when I adopt from her, she’ll be there for me with all questions and concerns.

I went to a microchip event the rescue planned out and held. They had there vet they use here in Oklahoma City(who was very nice and helpful), raffle tickets and prizes you could participate in (with the money going back into the rescue of course) and even a chop show and toy making station where I made two toys for my now safely-chipped parrot❤️. They had many friendly people working the event which made it a very easy environment for me of course having to have my parrot microchip for the first time. I also won a raffle basket and leaned how to safely store and make chopped birdie food!

I had an amazing experience at this rescue! I could not believe that with the amount of birds that they have that not only was it super clean but that Lisa who runs the rescue knew each bird so well it was amazing. Every time I went back to visit Jake the macaw that I am adopting I learned new things and loved watching Lisa interact with the birds. She helped us pick out the perfect macaw for our family. He just came home 4 days ago and he is settling in so well! I know that is from all the work and time Lisa and her amazing volunteers put into the birds. I refer anyone interested in a bird to her. I can't imagine my life without Frodo (fka Jake) in it.

Thank you Lisa for caring and giving so much to the many birds you rescue!

This rescue is top notch. I was very impressed at how well the birds are kept, and it's clear that their well-being is first priority. I have networked with them on bird rescues and received help and advice. Soft Landings goes above and beyond.

Lisa and Soft Landings were great to work with. I was looking for a bird-oriented GCC and having a hard time finding one in my area. I heard through the online grape vine that Soft Landings might have some available, but it was quite far away, and many rescues are difficult to work with when there is considerable distance. Lisa was still able to work with a local rescue to get my home check done and I was able to adopt. Lisa's set up is impressive. The birds are all properly cared for and attention and detail of care is given to even the smallest of budgies. She doesn't clip their wings and lets the birds be birds. She also doesn't push them past their comfort zone. Lisa was also up front about why Rio was surrendered and his issues with aggression - this was the FIRST time I've rescued where I was told those things 100% accurately AND up front before I had made a commitment. I appreciated that Lisa was so transparent about that and it shows she wants what is best for her birds. I'm so thankful for her approach. Rio was still working through his issues when I got him, but she started the work of teaching him that humans can be trusted and will respect his space without the need for aggression. He was willing to give me a try as a result and he is a well-adjusted member of my flock now.

I began volunteering at SL a few years ago. The rescue owners are passionate about caring for all parrots, not just the ones they have in the rescue. They are committed to helping and educating not just potential adopters, but any parrot owners in an effort to cut down on surrenders. The birds that do find themselves at Soft Landings are given excellent care. They receive routine vet care, lots of toys, a clean environment, healthy and fresh food, and as much attention as is possible.

I have learned alot just by volunteering, and am a better bird owner myself because of it. This is the best rescue to adopt, volunteer, or donate to ( I also do a monthly donation) because the birds are the number one priority, and there are alot of great birdies there looking for forever homes!

I absolutely love this place and the people that run it. My 1st Quaker, adopted, started having seizures and the owner met me in vinita to try to save her. Then I heard about another Quaker that was having seizures so my husband and I drove to Branson, picked up the bird and they met us in Joplin and saved her! They truly care about the parrots. It's not an income making organization. They make sure they place the birds enough educated owners that the birds choose. Amazing people with hearts of gold and a real love for each little soul.

A few years back, I saw an ad for a sad little goffins cockatoo on Kijiji. Something about him just screamed “help!” I wasn’t in a position to offer him a permanent home, but I certainly could go get him. With the help of some other bird folks, I learned about Lisa and Soft Landings. After just a few moments of chatting with Lisa, I knew she, as well as her rescue, were a cut above the others. She happily took this scared little cockatoo and loved him, even though he didn’t want anything to do with people. To this day, Lisa loves that little guy and I’ve enjoyed watching him flourish into a loud, destructive, demanding little guy (as every self-respecting cockatoo should be). But that’s not the end of my interaction with Lisa and Soft Landings.

I have always wanted a white bellied caique. They were my “dream bird.” When Lisa got little Kaya in at the rescue, I fell in love. I spent months admiring her photos on Facebook, too scared to take the plunge. Finally, after admiring her from afar for so long, I decided to adopt Kaya. I’m in Texas so, when Lisa came to my area to pick up a surrender, she brought Kaya along. For me, it was love at first sight. For Kaya, not so much. In addition to doing a thorough application and home check, Lisa has offered ongoing support in helping build a solid relationship with my little dream bird.

Lisa and Soft Landings are like family to me. I cannot sing her praises enough and I’m so thankful that the world has this loving and caring person who is a voice for birds in need.

Soft Landings is amazing! I have adopted 2 birds from them. Lisa has a very thorough application process and educates potential adopters. I visited the flock several times before my 1st Conure picked me. :-) The support that Soft Landings provides before, during, and after the adoption process is second to none!

After years of making fun of bird people, I’ve come to the realization that I may be a bird person. I have a lot to learn before bringing any feathered friends into my home and I know lisa will always be there to educate and advise as needed. Recently visited the rescue and was amazed at how personable the birds were. All of the birds were clean, happy and well fed. When the time comes, I will definitely be adopting through Soft Landings. Thank you Lisa for all your hard work and dedication
