I loved working with this org! Everyone was super nice and helpful! This is a good organization to volunteer with if you are a student as it is run by students. Working with young adults my age made volunteering fun!
I have loved working with Socks for the Sole! It's an excellent opportunity for UT students to learn about non-profits. I love being a part of a community of students who share such a strong passion for helping others. I like that we are able to work with other organizations in the area who are working with people experiencing homelessness because we can learn about the different types of care larger organizations are able to provide. Even though socks seem like a small thing, socks are some of the most requested items. Socks are something that are so important for our health and well-being, and socks become even more important for the health of people who are constantly moving and on their feet. I like feeling like I'm making a difference in people's lives.
I joined Socks for the Sole about a year ago, and it has been such an awesome and rewarding experience. The members go above and beyond to serve those who are currently experiencing homelessness. When we had our Sole events, we were able to pass out care packages to individuals and hold meaningful conversations with some of them. Doing deeds, both small or big, can have a huge impact on the lives of these people- being in this org has shown me just that. Even if we can't have our special events due to covid, Socks for the Sole still works hard to make sure that we can help out in any way possible. During these uncertain times, Socks wants to let the community know that we are still here for them, no matter what!
I have worked in Socks for the Sole for nearly 3 years now, and every aspect of this organization, from its mission to its members, is amazing! I first learned of this organization when I volunteered for one of the big events held that semester. That was the first time I was able to serve and converse with the homeless in Austin; I was blown away by the humbling nature of this organization's work and was inspired to join Socks for the long run. I love that all members are fueled to support those experiencing homelessness. Socks has truly given me a new perspective on life and taught me so much regarding the issue of homelessness in our communities.
As a member, I can say that Socks for the Sole truly has a heart for those experiencing homelessness. It’s really a privilege to serve the community through an organization that strives to provide resources for those who, temporarily, have a difficult time obtaining them for themselves and that works hard to increase awareness around the issues that they face.
I have worked with Socks for the Sole for two years and have loved every moment. We are able to make such meaningful change in Austin in regards to homelessness and I have been able to learn so much about the issue. My favorite part is being able to go out into the community and directly interact with those experiencing homelessness.

I have volunteered with this organization numerous times and every time the members have gone above and beyond my expectations. This org does a terrific job of emphasizing their focus on helping out their community and is transparent in everything that they do. They have helped countless people out throughout the years and I am confident that they will continue to uphold their great reputation.
