Mission: Small miracles feed hungry kids while building relationships with families to build a srtonger and healthier community
Programs: Samll miracles was established in 2011 and is a locally run non-profit. The mission of small miracles is to ensure that no child goes hungry in our community by providing resources and awareness throughout the year. Small miracles currently provide a yearly 10 week summer lunch program campaign during the summer at over 15 serving sites throughout wenatchee, east wenatchee, rock island and cashmere emcompassing three school districts. Small mirachle has served over 23,000 lunches to date. Many children are at risk of not having enough to eat at home or just going without during the summer when school is not in session. Small miracles fill that gap and is committed to extending the campaign to offer more lunches at additional serving sites and adding additional opportunity during other school breaks. Small miracles depends on the entire community for donations to fund the non food portion of the progrm and for volunteers to serve the kids monday through thursday during the summer. Over 350 volunteers answered the call this past summer to help serve the children. The summer lunch program follows the strict guidelines from the usda and the local health department. Parents are invited at the end of the summer to attend a lfe skills workshop opportunity around thanksgiving which allows them to attend 2 one hour classes on household budgeting, car maintenance and cooking on a budget to name a few. They then receive a 100 gift card that they may use to purchase gifts for their children. In 2017, small miracles, in partnership wit a local church, gave away 31 gift cards to 31 families. The attenders were thrilled with the classes. This is a positive event and gives people a "hand up not just a hand out". For more information go to smallriaclesncw. Org
