Mission: SGA was founded in 1934 to bring the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ to Slavic peoples world-wide. During the communist era, SGA covertly distributed Bibles and Christian literature, produced thousands of Russian-language radio programs, and translated and published helpful Christian books. Its 2 Russian Bible institutes trained missionaries who helped Slavic emigrants with teaching and church planting, especially after World War II. SGA now has autonomous offices in Canada, UK, France, Australia & New Zealand. In the lands of Russia ("Commonwealth of Independent States" or CIS) today, SGA operates 4 in-country Regional Ministry Centers to better serve national evangelical churches and it sponsors 4 seminaries and 11 Bible institutes. SGA serves Americans and American churches, as well as publicizing needs in the CIS, thru its monthly newsletter and prayer bulletin, quarterly church-bulletin insert, audiotapes for the visually impaired and videotapes.
