s. T. E. M. (science, technology, engineering, math) academies and career exploration:s. T. E. M. Academies are designed to equip local students with vocational, technical skills, and interpersonal skills needed to compete in the 21st century workforce by increasing student's interest in these fields and providing both vocational and technical skills. These academies use a hands on approach to the curriculum which increases students understanding and success. By providing these academies, it is the goal of the organization to increase students academic performance in these subjects by providing exposure and access. This year over 40 students attended these academies. These students were able to gain a better understanding of the fields and showed a significant increase in these subjects. Program evaluations also showed a measurable increase in students desire to attend a trade school or college. In addition, 70% of students reported that they would attend this academy again.
