The U.S. Army Signal Corps OCS Association is a non-profit that among other things supports scholarships for the children and grandchildren of U.S. Army Signal Corps OCS graduates who served during the WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War eras.

Today most charities have a chance to do something good for society… it’s called paying it forward. Except in this association’s case they are both paying it forward as well as paying it back. This association has established a scholarship program that awards scholarships and grants to the grandchildren of those who served during the WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War eras. It’s not that the they limit their scholarships to grandchildren mind you, it’s just that with the passage of time that’s the way it’s working out.

For example…

Imagine an 87 year old Grandfather who fought in the mountain campaigns of Italy, or rode with Patton’s Third Army to Germany, or waded through the jungles and swamps of Guadalcanal to defeat the Japanese… imagine him today. Old, most would say. Once a proud member of society, now sitting on the periphery, watching a hurried, chaotic and confusing world pass by. Perhaps that’s what one might see this senior citizen as.

But not these people. They see him as part of the greatest generation. They see him as the savior of our freedoms, the keeper of our faith. They see him as the torch bearer of integrity, honor, morals, and American values. And they see him as someone we Americans owe a huge debt of gratitude to. And because of this they have crafted a program that provides scholarships to the children and especially the grandchildren of U.S. Army Signal Corps OCS graduates that served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

In this group’s scholarship program something unique is happening… something akin to a miracle. What is being seen is that a unique grandchild–grandparent bonding takes place when a college age student receives a scholarship applied for by their grandfather and earned by his time in the service of his country during WWII. The coming together of these two souls, separated by so many years and so many socio-cultural differences, yet bonded by blood, is heartwarming and heart wrenching. In this simple event, along with the scholarship funds that are passed to the grandchild is passed the wisdom and lifetime value system of the grandparent; while the respect of the grandchild for the good judgment, principles and honest love that comes with age is cemented forever.

This association is a non-profit dedicated to giving something back to those who served. Many of these men gave their all for this country. Having watched them closely for several years now, we recommend you help them in their goals. Return the kindness of those who served and asked naught in return; help a child achieve their dream of a college education.
