Mission: Spsf raises funds to support academic excellence and expanded learning opportunities for p - 12 students in shoreline public schools. Spsf grants funds to support expanded learning opportunities in three key areas bridging the achievement gap science, technology, engineering and math stem and arts, music diversity enrichment
Programs: Bridging the achievment gap twenty-one grants were funded under this program. Our focus is on supporting programs that are innovative and/or proven to eliminate the achievement gap so that all students develop to their fullest potential. A number of these grants included elementary and secondary summer which allowed students to master skills in areas of need and/or recover credit so they can stay on track for graduation. We also provided grants to purchase multi-leveled reading texts, provide math skill instruction, preschool education, an early childhood play and learn group, and a district wide special education bike rodeo which allowed students to ride adaptive bikes that match their physical and cognitive abilities.
science, technology, engineering math enrichment - we provided funding for twenty-eight programs, including scholarships to the ge girls camp introducing students to kids in medicine 3d design, workshops, robotics and equipment funding instructors from the microsoft technology, education and literacy program providing funding for naturalists. Our stem program also included funding for a family engineering night. We provide funding for equipment, books and field trips directly related to our stem programs.
