Programs: Respite care program under the supervision of the new jersey division of developmental disabilities offers in-home and out-of-home respite services to disabled or handicapped individuals. Respite care can provide short- term relief from the ongoing care of a family member with a developmental disability and is also provided when the caregiver is temporarily absent or disabled. Additionally, under "self-directed respite" provision, funds are provided to families to hire their own respite worker.
