As an organization, she-can provides in-country sat test preparation and funds all non-scholarship costs that the scholar's family cannot afford such as plane tickets, computers, books, health insurance, phones, dormitory supplies and winter wardrobes. As of december 2017, she-can will have helped 47 female scholars from afghanistan, cambodia and rwanda win highly competitive scholarships at top universities, including harvard university, smith college, oberlin college, lehigh university, university of california berkeley, and more. In 2016, she-can launched a groundbreaking initiative with a coalition of excellent colleges and universities, in which the partner schools have committed to earmarking at least one full scholarship to their school per year for a she-can scholar. Our scholars are earning promising internships at placements like partners in health, women for women, and congressional offices. Fortified by their experiences, the mentoring from a team of professionals, and an exceptional college education, they return to their home countries equipped with the academic backgrounds, skills, and confidence to become influential leaders. Our graduates are thriving in high potential positions at home in the government and with impactful ngos. Our organization is designed to leverage resources and in 2015 and 2016 we were able to leverage over $1 million in university commitments in the form of scholarships to the program and 6,000 volunteer hours to provide nine scholars with 4-year college scholarships in the us.
