Causes: Environment, Land Resources Conservation
Mission: To preserve and protect the lands owned by the preserve and provide environmental education to the community.
Programs: We provide 80 free workshops on environmental awareness, nature crafts, self-improvement, annually; 2 weekly for 40 weeks. Taught by volunteers. Serving @ 500 people annually. All are free
annually, we do approximately 15 lectures or programs to schools and community events with information about the preserve, environmental awareness, music, reaching @ 400 people. Offered by volunteers
publish a monthly on-lin newsletter to @ 400 recipients (free) and an annual paper newsletter to @ 250 people, free.
we provide a nature library in a special building containing over 1,000 volumes, free, serving @50 visitors annually
we offer 3 woodland trails, properly maintained, total distance @ 2 miles, open 24/7 for 12 months annually. Total usage unknown. Free. Maintained by volunteers.
we patrol and protect the boundaries of preserve lands to guard them from hunting, trapping, dumping, poaching, logging. . . Fishing is permitted. Done by volunteers. Cost for posted signs and gas @ $50 annually.
we offer a stable of 8 bicycles and 3 canoes for visitors to use here. Free. Used by @ 30 visitors
we have monthly notices of preserve activities and offerings posted, free, in 18 different newspapers and have occasional tv educational interviews reaching an unknown quantity of people.
