I fell in love with PeaceJam when I first picked up the book, and couldn't wait to start groups at my school. However, the experiences my students have had through Seeding Change/Great Lakes PeaceJam far outweigh my greatest expectations. I have seen a student who spoke a dozen words her first year at our school become fast friends with people she had known for two days at the 2010 Conference. I have seen a student who had no interest in school or civics take charge of the youth campaign to reintroduce the Equal Housing & Employment Act in Ohio's House. My students have used these opportunities to create school-wide anti-bullying and recycling programs, they've met Nobel Peace Prize winners, and they feel like they can bring about positive change in the world with the love and support of the students, mentors, advisors, and staff they've met through Seeding Change. Nothing can replace the role GLPJ has had in their lives or mine.
