Mission: The SEED Foundation, Inc., is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) District of Columbia corporation, organized in March of 1997 for the purpose of establishing urban boarding schools that prepare students academically and socially for success in college and in the professional world. The first school, The SEED School of Washington, D.C., was established in the District of Columbia as a charter school and serves the needs of at-risk inner-city youth. The SEED School is the first urban public boarding school in the nation, and it will serve as a national model for boarding programs in other urban areas.
Programs: The seed foundation made progress on the development of an additional school in florida. The seed foundation also spent significant time and effort towards opening a school in ohio. The foundation continues to manage the growth of the seed school of maryland.
