Mission: The SEED Foundation, Inc., is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) District of Columbia corporation, organized in March of 1997 for the purpose of establishing urban boarding schools that prepare students academically and socially for success in college and in the professional world. The first school, The SEED School of Washington, D.C., was established in the District of Columbia as a charter school and serves the needs of at-risk inner-city youth. The SEED School is the first urban public boarding school in the nation, and it will serve as a national model for boarding programs in other urban areas.
