Causes: Disaster Aid, Safety Education
Mission: The purpose of this not for profit organization is to provide the boating public with unique high quality boating safety and educational programs in order to reduce the number of preventable recreational boating accidents and fatalities that occur each year.
Programs: With a focus on safe boating practices that result in fun on the water, the sea tow foundation - a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization - was established in 2006 by sea tow founder capt. Joe frohnhoefer. After his passing in 2015, captain joe's legacy continues as the foundation brings attention to the number of preventable boating-related accidents, injuries, and deaths, and directly addresses prevention methods through education and awareness. Close to 50,000 life jackets have been made available from over 450 life jacket loaner stations located in 36 states at boat ramps, marinas, and parks for the public to borrow and return at no charge on the honor system across the united states. Sea tow foundation's "designate a sober skipper" is being operated by 232 volunteer groups in 29 states and territories having reached over 2,000,000 people; and the campaign continues to grow.
