Mission: The scottish rite foundation of south dakota supports rite care clinics in south dakota and provides fellowship to graduate students. Rite care clinics in south dakota provide speech and language services to children, including diagnosis, assessment, education and therapy. Services are provided to children affected by speech and language disorders without regard for their ability to pay. Fellowships are awarded to graduate level students in the department of communications sciences and disorders at the university of south dakota.
Programs: Total of 14 fellowships for $16,200 to the university of south dakota's master's degree in childhood speech & hearing program, $4,200 to book grants.
grants of $15,000 to usd speech and learning center, $25,000 to children's care hospital clinic of rapid city, $25,000 to university of south dakota speech clinic, and $15,000 to aberdeen clinic. Monies were used to offset operational expenses for these entities. In 2017 these clinics served 4,500 children either with hearing, speech and/or dyslexia problems. Additionally, the net proceeds of $5,447 from the foundation fundraiser were used to provide support to the 4 clinics, as follows: $1,175 to the aberdeen clinic, $750 to the lifescape clinic in rapid city, $1,822 to the sioux falls clinic and $1,700 to the usd clinic in vermillion.
