Mission: Community collaborators taking action to create a competitive workforce, encourage a robust economy, gainful employment and a high quality of life through initiatives in education, training, and support services.
Programs: Programs include, financial literacy classes, americorps, scott county clearinghouse, reality stores, career clusters, drop out prevention task force, health outcomes task force, summer youth feeding program, rx drug positive norms campaigns, "lifeskills and "all-stars" substance abuse prevention curriculum, scott county attndance review board, conquer the c. H. A. O. S. , high school conquer the chaos, drug free communities campaign, tobacco prevention and cessation initiative, and prevent child abuse program. Americorps is a service program generated from the corporation for national and community service. Members serve; they don't work, at various service sites throughout the community. They do not receive a paycheck or a wage; they receive a very modest living allowance. The living allowance is however, taxed. They are not eligible for unemployment because they did not "work," but served. At the conclusion of a successful term of service, they also receive an educational award to be used toward payment of federal student loans or to the college/trade school of their choice. All programs fit within the context of the mission statement of providing initiatives in "education, training, or social services. "
