Mission: The mission of the School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport, Inc. (SVA) is to enrich and support the learning of Bridgeport''s public school students through the involvement of volunteers from Bridgeport and surrounding communities.
Programs: Read Aloud Day is a citywide event held each year in October. On this day, we recruit over 600 community volunteers to join us for one hour to read enjoyable children's books to every pre-kindergarten through sixth grade class throughout the system. Books are provided by SVA to be read and donated to the classroom libraries.
