The organization moved billing and claims processing from an in-house billing department to contracting with nextgen revenue cycle management (rcm) services. This change resulted in significant savings for the organization in addition to increased efficiency in processing claims and decreasing days to reimbursement. This has led to a great increase in revenue in fiscal year 2017. The organization was the recipient of additional grants in fy 2017 from new foundations that were not awarded in the past, including intero foundation and sunlight giving foundation for approximately $105,000. In addition, increased amounts awarded to the organization during the year from the health resources and services and administration (hrsa) of the united states government lead to greater grant revenue in the fiscal year. March 2017 marked the end of the 5-year hrsa 330 grant awarded to the organization in 2012. Administrative staff spent the first half of fiscal year 2017 compiling documentation for the service area competition (sac) application for continued funding. The application was submitted successfully in september 2017. The application was approved by hrsa and as a result, an additional 3-year 330 base grant was awarded in january 2017.
