Mission: Scarc, an organization serving people with developmental disabilities, is dedicated to the empowerment and support of persons with developmental disabilities and their families.
Programs: Residential programs: scarc's array of residential services continues to provide a high quality of life for our 110 residents who enjoy community living. Scarc's 25 group homes and 8 supervised apartments serve a variety of individuals with developmental disabilities in each location depending on the needs of the person. Between 3 and 8 individuals live in homes located within neighborhoods in 13 different municipalities. Supporting scarc's residential services are 193 trained and experienced staff members who demonstrate a commitment to the quality of life of each person at the residence.
employment programs: scarc provides an array of day programs, specifically designed to support people with varying levels of support needs. Serving approximately 215 adults with disabilities in 8 day program locations, plus our employment connections community work program, scarc takes the lead in sussex county for employment of individuals with developmental disabilities. In addition to scarc's employment focus and harvest explorers, scarc's harvest home food programs allow opportunities for adults with disabilities to distribute food to approximately 562 needy families throughout the county each month.
community services: scarc's community services include numerous family support programs, both in-home and community-based supports for children, teens and adults. Also included in scarc's community focus are the popular recreation programs. Recreational activities are typically held in small groups to enhance interpersonal relationships with others who are involved in the scarc family of services. Some of these events include various outings, dining out, art and music classes, hiking, sports activities and participation in special olympics. Scarc's larger group recreation activities are held on a periodic and seasonal basis to allow for people to engage in holiday celebrations, dances, picnics and outings.
