I met Nicole through friends with cats. Found out about her non profit and was floored at how beautiful it was. All the help and care that is provided just because. We need more charities like this. I decided I wanted to become a part of her volunteer team and help rescue cats. Not only do I help feed and rescue Ive adopted my own special kitty friend and I foster kittens each year. It’s been a wonderful way to help fill my day and my heart. So happy I found this program and so happy to be a part of it!
We are truly fortunate to have Nicole in our lives. She has gone above and beyond helping us and Siskiyou County. We are blessed to have someone like her helping all these people with their cats and dogs. She is an angel in my book and to many others. We love our Nicole.
Save Shasta Cats has tirelessly helped so many cats (and dogs) receive the food and veterinary care that they so need. Countless feral cats have been trapped/ neutered / spayed.
Save Shasta Cats provides food and shelter for these feral cats, as well!! There are many people who love their cats and dogs but cannot afford the veterinary care that their pets might need. Save Shasta cats generously assists these people. This organization shines a light in the community!!
Saving Shasta Cats is all about the big heart and hard work Nicole Dwork does for abandoned or unwanted cats. Nicole can not stand to see a cat abused. In our small town of Weed, she recently trapped and took to the veterinarian a little cat that was running the streets in obvious physical distress. She named the cat, Polar Bear. According to the veterinarian, Polar Bear had been shot by someone with a BB Gun and was very much under weight. Nicole payed the bill for the hospital stay and found him a good home. Recently, she had a person who was evicted from their home who had been hoarding cats. She cared for each one of the unwanted cats. Nicole has cat food or medication delivered to families that can not afford it. She has sent me flea medication for my cats, Robbie and Bodie. She has set up feeding stations for the cats and made sure that each one of the feral cats were spayed or neutered. She provides cold weather shelter for many of the cats who do not have homes. There was once a Mountain Lion in an area around her house where she provides a home for feral cats. Nicole sat up all night outside so none of them would be eaten by the predator. She is always educating people she provides resources to. Nicole starts every day with the cats of Siskiyou County first and foremost on her mind. If it was't for the unselfish dedication of Nicole Dwork, there would be many more undercared for and feral cats in the area. By the loving kindness she gives to all, I have seen people changed. My friend was helped by Nicole many, many times. My friend lived alone with his companion cat, Daisey. Daisey was all he really had. Daisey was overweight and diabetic, in pain with bad teeth. Nicole educated my friend about cat care, provided the right food, took Daisey to the doctor, had her teeth pulled, helped provide pain medication and reinforced all the orders given by the vetarinarian by educating on diabetes, correct food and pain control. Nicole also helped my friend with Daisey's passing away by providing friendship. My friend was was so overwhelmed by her quiet, kind and nonjudgemental way Nicole demonstrated consistantly with animals and people, he did a very uncharacteristic thing : He opened his wallet and gave his money to Saving Shasta Cats and took in some feral cats. He started asking, "How can I help?" With Nicole Dwork's big heart and love of animals, Saving Shasta Cats has changed our little community for the better and I thank her for that.
Nicole traps feral cats and has them fixed. We would have hundreds more homeless cats in Dunsmuir if she didn't do this.
We have many poor people who have animals and are too poor to buy food or have medical treatment for their pets. Nicole takes them food and gets their pets to the vet. Having a pet is important for their mental health as many of these people do not have relatives or close friends.
Nicole from saving Shasta cats has done so much for me and my cats. She has raised funds when my cats needed to go to the vet she has given me so much food and flea meds for my cats. She trapped two ferals on my property and took them to the vet to get spayed and she does this all over town to keep the ferals population down. I really don't know what I or this town would do without her!
Volunteers are working themselves into the ground trying to rescue injured animals, abandoned pets and community kittens and provide needed pet care to the unfortunate. Donations go to animal feed, vet services and equipment like trapping cages. Photo of a terrified feral kitten living out of a dumpster and now a very affectionate pet. Finding homes for pets has become an ever increasing part of the work done.
