Save One Soul Animal Rescue League

Results: Save One Soul Animal Rescue League (SOSARL) is a non-profit volunteer-driven dog rescue organization based in Rhode Island. Since our founding in 2014, we have successfully helped more than 5,000 dogs. Our dogs primarily come from our foster-based and shelter partners in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi but we also help local dogs when our resources allow.

Programs: The majority of our resources are focused on dog care and adoptions, but every action we take is motivated by our passion to minimize companion pet suffering while maintaining respect for all individuals involved. We pride ourselves on having high standards, not just for ourselves and our dogs, but for our adopters and the community as a whole, and we work tirelessly to know better and do better. We are guided by our founding principles of kindness, transparency, respect, continuous improvement, hard work, efficiency, compassion and teamwork. In true fashion to know better and do better, SOSARL has opened the first of it’s kind in RI, a fully stocked pet supply retail store in Wakefield, SOS reTAIL. This space offers an additional supportive platform into the community for quality products and services, as well as helpful guidance and advice. And the cherry on top is that 100% of store profits go to helping homeless animals! We have many years and thousands of matches of experience, and are committed to using our knowledge to create successful outcomes. We have chosen to work with and inherently trust our adopters (as you do us), but we will also not hesitate to share concerns about a match, as we have everyone's best interests at heart. Pre-screened status does not guarantee adoption of any particular dog, nor availability of any particular dog. We take the temperament of our dogs and matchmaking with our adopters very seriously. Every day that we care for our dogs, we learn more about them, but we have not observed our dogs in all situations, and many behaviors are relationship- and/or situation-specific. We cannot predict the future, but we draw upon our extensive experience and knowledge about both our dogs and adoptive homes to create matches that will support a good quality of life for all involved. By working with SOSARL, you are agreeing to be an active participant in this process, which may take unexpected turns and pivots, and end in an unexpected outcome. Our shared ultimate goal is to lay the groundwork for appropriate outcomes while maintaining transparency, kindness and trust throughout the relationship.
