This is truly an amazing cause. This nonprofit is primarily concerned with the dissemination of information relating to the Baby Safe Haven Law. It helps the baby and the parents when confronted with a baby they cannot care for.
No Shame, No Blame, No Name!
This says it all! Responsibly put that infant into the arms of a couple that can care for it, love it, and provide a wonderful life for it. All done anonymously. All done safely.
What can be a more loving act for a mother and parent than providing a good life for your baby when you cannot do it yourself.

I serve on the board of this wonderful charity. For the last two years my family has hosted a summer picnic for the children and families. To see these children thrive and grow is truly life affirming. Bless Dawn Geras and Angie Adler for giving these precious babies a chance at life.

Without the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation our daughter's birth mother would never have learned about the Safe Haven Law. The compassion this foundation shown for the Safe Haven cause inspired me to become a board member so we can share my daughter's story. We provide Safe Haven locations with educational materials along with signs and other media needed to raise awareness about the law.

SABF works to educate and facilitate safe newborn relinquishment - but what does that mean? "No shame, no blame, no names" says it all. If someone is not ready to parent - for whatever reason - they can bring their infant to a Safe Haven location to be adopted. It's never an easy decision, but for some, it's the right decision. SABF works to make sure panicked birth parents don't harm a baby out of desperation or fear. As they say - It's ok if you're not ready, because we are!

Save Abandoned Babies Foundation (SAB) does amazing work. They promote Safe Havens as a means of keeping vulnerable infants alive. In fact, more than 100 children are alive in IL because of their efforts. And, more than 4000 children are alive across the US because the leaders from SAB work cross-functionally with other states to promote Safe Havens.

SAB has worked to get our Baby Safe Haven Law passed, improved and improved again. They work to educate youth, young adults and teachers about the Law and how it works to save lives. They also train law enforcement and fire fighters about the Law. They are the group who puts advertising up on bus stops, on city buses, and in the shopping malls. Their tireless work to help save newborns is awe-inspiring. They are my heroes!

We are saving lives. No name, no blame, no shame.
One hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was. It won’t matter the sort of house I lived in or car I drove. But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.
Safe Haven Law- unharmed infant within 30 days of birth. Left “ with personnel at hospitals, fire or police station Tell a friend. Talk about it. You might save a life.

The founder of Save Abandoned Babies Foundation, Dawn Geras, read an article in the Chicago Tribune about an unwanted baby being thrown away. She could not handle such an abuse. So Dawn did something about - wrote a law! The law is now enforced in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Any unwanted, healthy baby can be brought to a fire station, police department or hospital within 30 days of birth to be placed with a loving family. The birth mother will not be prosecuted.

I have seen the hundreds of babies that have been saved by this law. They have brought love and life to their new families and form a huge extended family for each other. Without the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation, all of these lovely children might have ended up dead.

I’ve been involved with SAB for many years, and am delighted to witness the joy of families brought together by these efforts. Every baby deserves a loving family, and we are honored to be part of making that possible.

I recently met one of our saved babies. To see the beautiful smile of a baby that might have not survived had our law not been in effect is truly gratifying! At SAB, you know that you are making a difference, and saving lives.

I have known about this nonprofit since it's creation by Ms. Geras . And I have had the privilege to be a volunteer and witness to the over 180 babies saved. To know that there are so many more families waiting to adopt one of these safe haven babies makes it all the more important that we continue to spread the word about the IL Save Haven Law. What a truly wonderful experience.

I am forever grateful for the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation (SAB) because they are the main reason we currently have our daughter. In November 2014, our beautiful baby girl was relinquished to a fire department using the Safe Haven Law. Our greatest gift, our greatest miracle, our baby girl came to us because of the hard work of this foundation. SAB's tireless efforts in getting the Safe Haven Law enacted and to be well known allowed our birth mom to make the best decision possible for her baby by allowing her to be adopted instead of abandoning her in some unsafe place. Because of SAB, our baby girl was given a chance at life with a family who loves her beyond words. I cannot say enough about this foundation!

Wonderful organization with an even better cause - saving lives of innocent babies. It doesn't get much better than that!

What a fantastic organization, to help save a child's life. Place the baby in the arms of a loving family instead of a dumpster. It's also great to know that all money donated goes toward saving babies, there are no salaried employees, they all volunteer their time.

This amazing organization is very unique as it is 100% volunteer with no salaries to be paid out of donations. All money raised is used to create awareness of the law and to help carry out it's life-saving mission of helping new mothers choose a responsible alternative to unsafe abandonment.

It saves the lives of the most vulnerable among us....an innocent newborn infant and places it in a loving arms of a couple who were eagerly awaiting the babies arrival.

Please help us save more lives. Talk about it, tell a friend.....you just might save a life!

I've been privileged to be allowed to volunteer with Save Abandoned Babies Foundation (SAB) for several years now. I continue to be amazed by the dedication and pure motives of this group. Responsible for passing the Illinois Baby Safe Haven Law (an unharmed infant, 30 days old or less, may be left safely with personnel at hospitals, fire fighters, police officers and emergency medical professionals, the group's sole mission is stated by its name.

Today's work is to educate all individuals in Illinois about the Law and to prevent the illegal abandonment of infants whose parents don't want or can't keep them.

As parents of a Safe Haven baby, my husband and I are incredibly grateful for the tireless work the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation does on behalf of those who do not have a voice. Without the Safe Haven law, which SAB, was instrumental in enacting we might not have our precious son. In addition to the wonderful folks at SAB we are thankful beyond measure of our son's birth parents. They could have chosen to leave their son in an unsafe place when they could no longer care for him. Instead they had the courage to take the little one to a safe place knowing that he would be well cared for.

The mission of SAB is clear - to increase awareness about the Illinois Safe Haven Law so that lives are saved - lives of the innocent babies and the future of the parent. Volunteers of SAB are committed to this mission and work hard to spread the work through all avenues - through schools, through the media, through community health fairs, but largely by word of mouth. The efforts of this organization are effective and there is still much to be done until everyone knows that this law works to protect babies and their parents. The organization taps into the talents of each member so each person feels they are making a meaningful contribution.

As one of the founding members of Save Abandoned Babies Foundation back in 2000, The Safe Haven Law (which SAB wrote and lobbied to get passed in August of 2001) has allowed 84 newborns to be safely relinquished under the law and placed in adoptive homes with loving parents. This law allows a parent to safely relinquish an unharmed newborn up to 30 days old to a STAFFED police station, fire station, hospital emergency room or medical emergency facility without fear of prosecution. SAB is dedicated to publicizing the existence of the Safe Haven Law, passing legislation to make the law better and trying to eliminate newborns being thrown in the trash and killed. 100% of the donations are used for this purpose, we are an all volunteer organization committed to saving newborn lives.

The Save Abandoned Babies Foundation is on the forefront of important legislation and awareness programs in an effort to save babies lives. Whenever we hear news of a newborn who has been abandoned and left to die, we all feel sadness, but we also know there is work to be done to ensure everyone is aware of Illinois' Safe Haven Law. The foundation is run and supported by incredibly dedicated individuals, all of whom volunteer their time and talents without pay. It is a labor of love. We became involved when our daughter was safely handed over through the Safe Haven Law and eventually made her way to us through adoption. We have come to know many families who have also adopted Safe Haven babies and all these children are so precious. It is through the diligent efforts of the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation that the birthmothers of these children had an alternative to them that may well have prevented a terrible tragedy. Thanks go out to all the staff and volunteers of this very important charity that does so much good. They create loving families, save the lives of babies, provide peace of mind to birthmothers, and so much more.

SAB is a wonderful organization. I can only hope it gets the recognition and publicity it deserves to do good for future babies. Word of mouth helps, but the press would be better. I believe it would be utlized more if the general public if it was communicated more broadly. Can't thank SAB enough for one of the most precious gifts in my life!

Not only a legitimate cause, but a legitimate organization. Monies given to this charity are not utilized to pay staffers or board members. Every person involved, from the founder to the board to the volunteers donates their time and energy without compensation. The Save Abandoned Babies Foundation is responsible for rescuing the lives of over 50 infants, and placing them anonymously with families throughout Illinois. Unlike many charities or non-profits who have asked for time, SAB was unique in it's passion, commitment and dedication to the creation of Safe Haven laws, all done purely out of selflessness.

I first became involved with the Exchange club by being the director of the Child Protection Team at St Therese Medical Center in Waukegan. I then joined the Breakfast Exchange club of Gurnee and began becoming an officer. Later I joined the save abandoned babies foundation and have worked on public awareness of the Safe Haven laws thru local, IL (Lincolnland) and National Exchange club. We have saved 60 babies in the last 9, going on 10 years. Dr Mike Oster
